01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
02 - Combine the chopped chocolate with coconut oil or vegetable shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stovetop.
03 - Dip each pretzel halfway into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip back into the bowl before placing the pretzel on the prepared baking sheet.
04 - Immediately after dipping and while the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your desired toppings over the coated pretzels.
05 - Allow the pretzels to set at room temperature or refrigerate for approximately 20 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
06 - Store the finished chocolate-covered pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
