01 - Combine cream cheese, unsalted butter, dill (if using), salt, and black pepper in a small mixing bowl and mix until smooth and homogeneous.
02 - Using a butter knife or offset spatula, evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each bread slice.
03 - Arrange sliced cucumber in overlapping layers across half of the bread slices.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down, over the cucumber-topped slices to form sandwiches.
05 - Gently press each sandwich and cut into four quarters, using either rectangles or triangles as preferred. Serve immediately, or cover with a damp paper towel and refrigerate until ready to serve.
